Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ⅓ cup pine nuts (or walnuts)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Method
 

  1. Add basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to a food processor.
  2. Pulse until finely chopped.
  3. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while blending until smooth.
  4. Add lemon juice if desired and blend for a few more seconds.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Spoon the pesto evenly into the four compartments of your silicone storage container.
  7. Cover with the lid and refrigerate or freeze for later use.

Notes

  • Use fresh basil for the best flavor.
  • Walnuts or almonds can replace pine nuts.
  • Add extra Parmesan for a richer taste.
